What is jesmonite
Jesmonite is a water-based eco-resin invented in 1980 under the name AC100.
It is widely used today as an ecological alternative to epoxy resins.
It is a non-toxic composite material combining a mineral base (natural mineral crystals) with an acrylic resin and water. It does not contain BPA (Bisphenol A) defined as an endocrine disruptor since 2011 by ANSES.
Remember that bisphenol A is a chemical compound used for the synthesis of plastics and resins used in the manufacture of many everyday products (food and non-food). It has the capacity to migrate from its containers towards the liquid or solid agent which is in contact with it, and can thus be ingested by the human body. And yes, just that!
Unlike its other cousins "epoxy resins", jesmonite has no solvent base and does not emit VOCs, which are volatile, toxic organic compounds responsible for greenhouse gases.
